Hi all, well where do I start? I spent my youth in a small town on the north west coast of England called Maryport where music was a stronghold and played a pinnacle part of the compact community; my current home town, Cobh in Co Cork Ireland.
At an innocent age of 9 I held my first guitar, a strange thing to witness for my folks as I re-strung the thing, tuned it to perfection and immediately began playing well structured chords with an ear for rhythm. My Mother was a keen pianist and my Father an outstanding but shy singer so the foundation for my musical future was pretty inherent.
I joined my first band at the rebellious age of 11 when the 'Punk' era descended on the nation. 'The Uninvited' ruled the youth scene in the area for around 12 months, but secured my direction and passion for live stage performance, a fascination I still hold to this day. I performed with a string of local bands for some years and found myself forming my own band at the age of 19.
'Dangerous Age' were signed to Kevin Kinsella’s Manchester label 'Jellystreet Records' (Robbie William's Management) a subsidiary of EMI and we ended up being shelved by the company. This shattered my illusions of the music industry and as a result I ceased playing for a number of years.
I then moved to Amsterdam for a quick escape and simply fell in love with the place. I found refuge for a mere 15 years working for several production companies and finally took to the stage again in 2000 with chart topping band 'Little Big Man' (Dino/EMI). After several releases including 'I Found Love' and 'Take Me To Your World' (with video releases) and extensive European tours, I focused my attention on song writing, forming a team of artists writing for ‘Pop Idols' winners and runnerS up. I then moved into presenting national TV and radio in Holland for a few cool years.
U2 have been a fundamental influence throughout my career, to say the least, so it came as no surprise to find myself spending the next 8 musical years, paying tribute to that band.
I have fronted several U2 tribute acts throughout Europe including 'U2OPIA' and 'Us2' (Ireland) '2U2' (UK) and embarking on extensive tours including the 'U2 360' tour where we performed for the masses in several U2HQ venues in a number of major cities throughout.
Then it happened! Luke and Andy called me!
U2-2 (formerly 'Achtung Baby') are a band I have always been envious of due to their outstanding history, stamina and dedication to perfecting the perfect U2 live experience. Formed in 1993 says it all, these guys were 'flying' way before the concept of tribute bands was introduced.
I am proud to be part of this future legacy! Next Chapter. X Brian
